Would a good god allow original sin?

If we truley are created as unique individuals who can not rightly be judged and condemned for another separate individuals actions, then how can original sin be allowed by a god? original sin condemns you even before your birth for the wrongful choices made by a remote ancestor. if there was no original sin, it wouldnt make sense for babies to be born imperfect or allowed to die traumatically. why didnt jesuses sacrifice atleast do something about original sin, and why would a god allow original sin?
